Inspires trust, thorough and caring. Would highly recommend for foot surgery. If waiting time at NHS too long, see him privately, well worth it.

Mr Ali Abbasian treated me from 2016 - 2018 for a number of issues with my right foot, that originated when I was a teenager. Over time the issues grew worse until the issues were finally identified and I was referred by a registrar to Mr Abbasian as he was the expert in this area. He was most interested in my condition and explained his operation plan to remedy the issues, as a result I felt confident with his decisions as I very much wanted to continue practising yoga and did not want to be impaired in any way as a result. After waiting 6 months on the NHS waiting list, Mr Abbasian performed a complicated major Cavovarus Foot Reconstruction (hind foot), which was successful with no complications. Of-course I had no idea beforehand just how major it was, I wish I had really understood, perhaps if the word 'major' had been used more often beforehand I would have been better prepared. Mr Abbasian continued to monitor my recuperation during 2016 and 2017 and encouraged me to continue working my way towards full recovery and, after some months I was able I returned to practising yoga. However as much as I could I finally realised that I could not continue with the pain that I now felt, as the rest of my foot and ankle had not adjusted to the major operation in 2016 and this was impacting on my ankle. I emailed Mr Abbasian regarding my concerns and his immediate reply was that he put me on the waiting list for a second major operation. Although we had discussed the further options previously I was impressed by his immediate response to my concerns. After another 6 months on the waiting list in June 2018 Mr Abbasian performed an Ankle Fusion, which again was successful and without any complications. As the operation was arthroscopic the healing time was the same but the overall impact on my health was minimal. Nine weeks after the operation I returned to daily hot yoga and I realised that I was finally pain free, although I still had some discomfort but that has gradually eased. Three and a half months later I'm practising the hardest hot yoga classes and feel marvellous considering my foot is still healing and will continue to do so for some months. To summarise, although the issues that I had were finally identified in 2016 resulting in my first major operation and then in 2018 a second operation was required as the foot had not adjusted to the first operation. Mr Abbasian could have done both operations in 2016. However he knew how important yoga was to me to stay fit and healthy, so he obviously took that into account. Its important to have surgeon that listens to the patient and takes their view into account. I highly recommend Mr Abbasian as his dedication, professionalism and care is second to none.

Mr Abbasian was absolutely brilliant from start to finish. He was personable, listened carefully to my problems, talked me through a clear and concise diagnosis and presented the options for treatment. This was especially important for me having been passed through several different consultants with little or no explanation or treatment options in the aftermath of my injury which went on for nearly a year. All the way through the pre-op care, through to the morning of surgery, Mr Abbasian was able to allay fears and apprehension of surgery. The results from the surgery were fantastic and the follow up care seamless. I am now back doing sports and activities above and beyond what I thought would be possible thanks to this wonderful consultant. I cannot thank him enough for everything he did for me. I highly, highly recommend Mr Abbasian to anyone suffering with foot/ankle problems.

This doctor has a very special gift of understanding and empathy with his patient. He is attentive, supremely knowledgable and above all has great passion and enthusiasm for his work. He has a great sense of humour and a very special personal style . He actually "listens" which is very unusual in a practitioner at this level... I looked forward to the consultations with him as he is was able to make me interested in my "condition" and allayed all feelings of apprehension about my first operation. My only small concern is that he was not able to see me directly after the operation but sent his associate who I had never met and who mistook me for another patient. This aside I highly recommend this very gifted and special practitioner.

Mr Abbasian listened carefully to my problem of osteoarthritis in my foot and gave me a very clear diagnosis of the problem and an explanation of why my problem had developed. He showed me X rays of what he had done for another patient with a similar condition and was positive that he would be able to operate and resolve my problem. He promised that I would be able to walk without pain. He was realistic in that he warned me it would take about a year for my foot to recover from the surgery. I was able to walk the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path for 5 days in the summer without pain just a year after the operation. I had built up my walking before that as a walk leader with the Walking for Health scheme. Have not taken a single pain killer since the operation after having had pain for 5 - 6 years when walking before the operation. I had wonderfully consistent care from Mr Abbasian, seeing him before the operation, just after the operation and at the subsequent outpatients visits. I was happy to seem him after the year was up to be able to thank him for his skillful work.
